Dear Claire,

We hope you're enjoying the fantastic sporting action taking place in Beijing.

With just over a week to go to the end of the Olympic Games we're getting excited, looking foward to the moment the Olympic Flag is officially handed over from Beijing to London, on Sunday 24 August.

We will be celebrating with the Visa London 2012 Party on The Mall for around 40,000 people, featuring performances from top acts including Will Young, McFly, The Feeling and Katherine Jenkins.

The concert, for ticket holders only, will be broadcast live on BBC One and Radio 2 and shown on big screens across the UK.

Party like it's 2012

We want you to join in the fun. Get in the mood for a party by watching our celebration video.

Then send us a clip or an image of you celebrating. It could be a celebration like the athletes and fans in our video. It could be an old clip from ten years ago, or something you've photographed specially. You decide.

If it's good, we'll showcase it on the London 2012 website.

If it's amazing, it'll be shown at the party on 24 August and on the giant screens during and after the party. Find out more and upload your image or clip

We look forward to celebrating with you,

The London 2012 team

Dear Claire,

It’s now less than 1,000 days to the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games!

We hope you enjoyed the spectacular way our partner BT marked the milestone, lighting up the BT Tower with lasers, fireworks and a giant screen. The display was broadcast live on the National Lottery Draw Show on BBC One, with Olympic superstar Kelly Holmes pressing the button to kick it all off. Relive the moment on the blog

In Weymouth and Portland, venue for the London 2012 Sailing events, young sailors took to the water to create a special photograph to mark the milestone. Watch the making of '1,000 days to go sets sail' on the London 2012 blog.

You might also have already heard about the new National Portrait Gallery/BT 'Road to 2012' exhibition, featuring some of the people behind the scenes at London 2012.

The first set of a series of new portraits were taken by Brian Griffin. They include the London 2012 Organising Committee Chair Sebastian Coe and four of the young people who went to Singapore when we bid for the Games. Find out more about the Road to 2012 project

Across the UK people have been sharing their hopes and dreams for the next 1,000 days. If you haven’t already, why not login at london2012.com/1000days and upload your picture, or join us and all the other people on Twitter posting what they'd like to achieve #in1000days

Five million people have already been inspired by the Games in some way – through sport, cultural activities, business opportunities, volunteering and more. Read more about how people around the world are already involved in the Games

The number of people inspired will only increase as we get ever closer to 2012... what will you do?

Best wishes,

The London 2012 team

LOCOG Chair Seb Coe was in Scotland as we marked 1,000 days to go to the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Once again he saw how the Games are benefiting people right around the UK. Read Seb's thoughts on passing the 1,000 days to go point
What will you do in 1,000 days?
Write a book?  Run a marathon? Volunteer at the Games? People around the UK have been sharing their dreams for the next 1,000 days. See them on our special '1,000 days to go' photo gallery and share your own
Photographer Brian Griffin was the first to be commissioned for 'Road to 2012' - a set of London 2012 photos at the National Portrait Gallery, in partnership with BT. Brian explains his thoughts behind the photos and how he has been energised by the project on the London 2012 blog.
London 2012 Organising Committee staff member Ray Mason was lucky to be IN the BT Tower on Saturday evening. Find out about Ray's experience at the top of the BT Tower on the London 2012 blog
