Dear Claire,
It’s now less than 1,000 days to the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games!

We hope you enjoyed the spectacular way our partner BT marked the milestone, lighting up the BT Tower with lasers, fireworks and a giant screen. The display was broadcast live on the National Lottery Draw Show on BBC One, with Olympic superstar Kelly Holmes pressing the button to kick it all off. Relive the moment on the blog

In Weymouth and Portland, venue for the London 2012 Sailing events, young sailors took to the water to create a special photograph to mark the milestone. Watch the making of '1,000 days to go sets sail' on the London 2012 blog.
You might also have already heard about the new National Portrait Gallery/BT 'Road to 2012' exhibition, featuring some of the people behind the scenes at London 2012.

The first set of a series of new portraits were taken by Brian Griffin. They include the London 2012 Organising Committee Chair Sebastian Coe and four of the young people who went to Singapore when we bid for the Games. Find out more about the Road to 2012 project
Across the UK people have been sharing their hopes and dreams for the next 1,000 days. If you haven’t already, why not login at london2012.com/1000days and upload your picture, or and all the other people on Twitter posting what they'd like to achieve #in1000days
Five million people have already been inspired by the Games in some way – through sport, cultural activities, business opportunities, volunteering and more. Read more about how people around the world are already involved in the Games
The number of people inspired will only increase as we get ever closer to 2012... what will you do?
Best wishes,
The London 2012 team |

| Photographer Brian Griffin was the first to be commissioned for 'Road to 2012' - a set of London 2012 photos at the National Portrait Gallery, in partnership with BT. Brian explains his thoughts behind the photos and how he has been energised by the project on the London 2012 blog. |
